Approximately 100 people turned out Saturday for the 2026 Fire Station 10 Open House at Long Hollow and Glacier drives.
Booths were set up in front of the fire station, where agencies gave handouts and representatives answered questions both before and after the presentations. Several pieces of bright red fire equipment were parked out front for all to look over, a great draw for youngsters.
At the presentation on a cool, comfortable and sunny day, they learned what many agencies are doing to protect the community from fire that’s always a threat in our dry summers. They also learned what they should do to help protect their own homes.
Among the presenters were representatives from: Madera County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department, CAL FIRE, the county Board of Supervisors, Sierra Ambulance, CRCD Firewise, the Mountain Amateur Radio Club, PG&E, Central California Animal Disaster, Canine Companions and YLOA Communications.
