Yosemite Spring Park Utility Company (YSPUC) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Meter Reader to join our team. This entry-level position is the first step on the operator career ladder, with opportunities for advancement to Operator I, II, and III roles—each offering increased responsibility and compensation. While certifications are not required for this position, a D1 or T1 certification is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately read and record monthly water meter readings at residential sites and connections.
- Conduct inspections of septic aerobic systems.
- Identify and report any abnormalities in readings, usage patterns, or property occupancy status.
- Communicate clearly with the YSPUC Office to report issues such as misread meters or access difficulties.
- Assist homeowners occasionally and respond to inquiries as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license and a clean driving record (must be insurable).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stretch, kneel, stoop, and reach.
- Physically able to walk over uneven terrain, through brush and weeds, and work in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain).
- Comfortable working around insects, spiders, and small animals.
- Basic proficiency in using tools like pry bars and shovels.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Availability to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed.
