Highlights of the Sept. 18 YLOA and YSPUC board meetings:

The YLOA board voted to:

• Extend General Manager Jonathan Penrose’s contract indefinitely following a six-month review period. The vote was 7-0. President Rebecca Brannon said the board had interviewed department managers and was “thrilled” with Penrose’s performance: “We realized how big his job is. And we’re very excited by his vision, his motivation of the staff and his focus to engage and inform the community.”

• Require that draft minutes of board meetings be sent to all directors within seven calendar days of the meeting.

• Approved creation of a Disaster and Safety-Health (DASH) Committee. Following an organizational meeting attended by 15 people, Director Michelle Piotrowski motioned to create the committee with the mission to coordinate and educate the community of Yosemite Lakes Park on disaster and safety preparedness and response. Its vision would be that all YLP residents and employees work together during disaster and emergency situations.
